Our restoration business consists of working for private individuals and collectors from all over the United Kingdom and indeed from many parts of the world, though visitors are mainly drawn from the Southern & Home Counties, typically anywhere south of the M4 corridor. During the warmer weather, because of our close proximity to the south coast beaches, a lot of folk bring their pieces in whilst en route to their holiday destinations.
We can also count on many local dealers amongst our clientele as well as national dealers and even some international ones, from as far afield as Australia, USA, Portugal, France and Holland. The internet has made the world a very small market place and airmail postage can whisk items to almost anywhere in the world in less than a week. As a result of this we have restored numerous items for 'cyber' customers via our web site.
Most pieces that come into the workshop require to be restored 'aesthetically invisibly' however we can also repair to a high standard employing what is called a "conservation repair" whereby the piece is cleaned, stabilised and properly adhered, then any remaining visible cracks are dealt with using polished coloured epoxy fill to make it suitable for display purposes, naturally this involves less work than the invisible option and is sometimes seen as a good alternative.
A lot of our work for the private sector is covered by individual's household insurance. We are always pleased to accommodate such requests and will gladly supply a written estimate with accompanying photographs of the damage to comply with any policy requirement.
As a point of reference we are 5 miles equidistant from the Bournemouth and Poole town centres. Thankfully you do not have to drive through either of these two large towns to reach us. The M27/A31 (the gateway to the West Country from Southampton) is just north of us and likewise the A338 dual carriageway from Ringwood to Bournemouth is just east of us and both are 5 minutes from our door.
Collection & delivery possible within reasonable distances.
